William J. Lanski, Sr.

William J. Lanski Sr., 87, of Dunkirk, died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at home.He was born in Dunkirk, July 13, 1932, son on the late John F. and Mabel (Frazier) Lanski.

A veteran of the US Army, who served during the Korean Conflict from 1952-54. A retired Pipe-fitter, Bill worked various job sites thru the Steam-fitters Local Union No. 449.

His memberships include Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hyacinth, Life Member Dunkirk Falcons Club, Kosciuszko Club. Bill was an avid bowler, enjoyed restoring his antique cars, and in his younger days he liked to go hunting and fishing with his sons.

Surviving are his children; William (Carol) Lanski Jr, of Dunkirk, Kathleen (Ken) George of AZ, Martin Lanski and Christopher (Louise) Lanski both of Fredonia, a sister; Frances Wdowiasz of Dunkirk, grandchildren; William (Melanie) Lanski III, Jennifer Lanski, Amanda (Ernie) Heiser, Aaron (Erika) George, Matthew (Christy) George, Lydia and Claire Lanski, great grandchildren; William Lanski IV, Joshua Lanski, Zachary Skinner, Jacob Skinner, James Heiser, Grace Heiser, Skylar George and several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death in addition to his parents is his wife of 58 years, Evelyn May (Voss) Lanski, who died March 8, 2014, sisters Helen Reardon, Myrna Schuknecht and brother John Lanski.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 a.m. in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will by in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.
