Sophie F. Szynski

Sophie F. Szynski, 87, of Dunkirk, died, Thursday, October 31, 2019, at home with her loving daughter at her side.

She was born December 29, 1931, in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Anastazy and Rose (Malkowski) Swiech.

A retired employee of SUNY at Fredonia, where she worked in the Registrars office for over 30 years.

Her memberships include Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig.

Surviving is her loving daughter Jill Szynski-Serino of MA, her brother Felix “Toddy” Swiech, sister in law Shirley Swiech both of Dunkirk, nieces Susan Nalepa of Ohio, Kathy Rymanowski of Albany, NY, Mary Lou (Tim) Dykas, Paulette Morein, Karen (Joe) Porpiglia all of Dunkirk, Ellen (Peter) Sumby of CT., Andrea Nalepa of Fredonia, Gary Swiech of Fl, Greg Swiech of NJ, along with several other nieces and nephews survive. Preceded in death in addition to her parents are her husband Donald J. Szynski who died May 15, 1995, son in law Samuel M. Serino who died July 23, 2016, sisters Dorothy Nalepa, Victoria Swiech, and abrother Walter Swiech.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call Sunday from 3-6 PM at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc, 56 E Doughty St inDunkirk. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 AM in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
