Sean P. Moore, 56, passed away late Friday morning, November 29, 2024, at UPMC
Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, after battling a longtime illness that was only recently
known.
Sean was born on September 1st, 1968 in Westfield, New York. He was the son of the late
Sidney and Judy (Pierson) Moore and grandson of the late Reba (Billings) and David Pierson.
He resided in the Wesleyville and Lawrence Park, PA area in early life with his mother, in
adolescence he grew up in Ripley, NY with his grandparents after his mother’s passing, and
later resided primarily in the Dunkirk area as an adult. He attended Ripley Central School and
Erie BOCES for electrical trade and graduated in 1988, receiving his high school diploma and
electrician certification.
Sean was passionate about family, faith, and his hobbies. He had a strong faith and love for
God and Jesus. Sean attended Ripley Presbyterian Church for a large part of his younger years
and in more recent years has attended Christ Community Church in Fredonia, NY. He loved
trains, model railroading, rail-fanning, sci-fi movies like Star Wars and Star Trek, 70s and 80s
rock and pop music, computers, and the Buffalo Bills. He spent time in his teens and young
adulthood DJing music at school dances with a longtime friend as the group “Youngblood
Entertainment”. Sean also spent many years on and off running computer repair shops as
“Phantom Computers”. He spent a lot of time working on his personal train model railroads and
researching history about railroads, especially his favorite railroad the DAV&P. He shared his
love of trains by participating in model train clubs and model railroading shows. Sean also spent
several years running an online radio called “Sloth Radio”, playing some of his favorite music
from many eras. In 2010, Sean began his journey of creating a functional life-sized R2-D2
replica which he completed and brought to a variety of events for several years, bringing joy and
smiles to both adults and children. He also ran “Phantom Hobbies” online, where he made and
sold 3D models, kits, and accessories for model railroads.
Sean met many people during his life and made many friends, especially through his hobbies.
He was kind, gentle, strong, and generous. He found happiness being with his family, friends,
and pets, and spending time on his hobbies. Sean always looked at the bright-side of things
even in the darkest situations and believed God would see things through by his side. He would
do his best to give and support others even during hardships of his own. He filled his home and
the lives around him with music, love, laughter, and the sound of trains.
His survivors include his wife, Elsie Moore, two daughters, Melissa (Killian) Moore and
Stephanie Moore of Dunkirk, a son, Anthony Moore, three grandchildren, Andrew, William, and
Breanna Moore of New Port Richey, FL, an aunt, Phyllis (late Daniel) Butts of Fredonia, several
cousins from Erie, PA and surrounding regions, and numerous friends worldwide.
