Robert H. "Big Bob" Meyers, 82, of Dunkirk, died Friday afternoon, December 16, 2016, at Brooks MemorialHospital. He was born April 7, 1934, in Dunkirk, son of the late Alfred and Mabel (Herald) Meyers. A veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1952-53 and U.S.Army from 1953-57. Robert was a retired employee of Pinkerton Security where he was Captain and in charge of the Northern Chautauqua area. An avid CB radio fanatic, he was well known as "Big Bob", his radio handle. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His past memberships included Lions Club, Kawianis Club, Kosciuszko Club. Surviving are children Debbie (Robert) LeGrano of Fredonia, Howard Bremer of Fla., Sandra (Bremer) Jakubowski of Dunkirk, Scott (Sherrie) Meyers of TN., and Gretchen (Frank) Tuttle of Fla.; grandchildren, Robert (Nicole) LeGrano, Crystal (David) Voigt,Amber (Vincent) Strychalski, Jillian Bremer, Janelle Bremer, Tara (Jose) Salgado, Kim (Brian) Blood,Jake Meyers, Louie Tuttle and Stephanie Tuttle; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred Meyers of Buffalo, Kenneth (Jo Ann) Meyers of N.H., Frederick (Mary) Meyers of S.C.; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death in addition to his parents is his wife Shirley (Buckley) Meyers, grandson Jacob Salgado and granddaughter BristolLeGrano. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street, Dunkirk.
