Martha M. Dobek

Martha (Chrabasz) Dobek, 97 of Dunkirk, passed away on Feb. 26, 2021 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center.Born on Aug. 17, 1923 in Dunkirk, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Zieminski) Chrabasz.

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Martha worked briefly for Van Raalte and the Dunkirk school district. Martha was a member of St Hyacinth/Blessed Mary Angela Catholic Church, She was active in the Mother’s Club, annual church festivals, card parties and weekly bingo games.Martha was a wonderful wife and mother of 5 children, grandmother of 11, and great grandmother to 13.She was an excellent cook and baker specializing in Polish delicacies. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and attending grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, and birthday parties. In her later years, she and her husband could be seen taking long evening walks through Dunkirk and SUNY Fredonia campus.

Martha is survived by sons Joseph (Suzanne), Patrick (Linda), and James (Mary) Dobek, Son-in-law Gene Bell -Villada, Daughter-in-law Mary (Terese) Dobek. Grandchildren Christopher (Amy), Elizabeth (Jon) McNett, Katherine (Aaron) Connacher, Jennifer (EJ) Hayes, Jeffery, Jeremy (Molly), Joshua, Jaco (Kelley), Stephen (Annie), Abigail, and Matthew. Great grandchildren Colby, Brady, Ava, Ella, Parker, Rachel, Nicholas, Mariusz, Riley, Luke, Grace, Madilyn, Connor. Several nieces and nephews also survive.She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Joseph F. Dobek, her daughter Audrey (Dobek Bell-Villada), and son Thomas. She was the last surviving member of the Chrabasz family that included brothers Matthew, Antho-ny, Jacob, Frank, Aloisus, and sisters Josephine (Doktor), Mary (Davis), Katherine (Nowak), Dorothy (Lanski), Cecelia (Carrus) and Irene
(Pincoski).

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Blessed Mary Angela Church, Hospice or a Charity of choice.
