Mark O. Rivard, 71, of Sheridan, died Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Largo Medical Center, in Florida.
Born Nov. 9, 1949, in Ashland, Ohio, son of the late Edwin Rivard and late Alda (Olin) Willis.
A US Marine Corp veteran of Vietnam from 1969-70. Mark received two masters degrees, one from State University College at Buffalo in education history and a second from Canisius College as a school counselor. He retired from Niagara Wheatfield Central Schools.
Memberships include the Amherst Republican Committee and NYS Forest Owners Local Chapter.
Mark considered himself a farmer and liked to visit his friends in Chautauqua County, but his greatest love was for his wife, children and grandchildren, whom he cherished spending time with.
Surviving is his wife of over 48 years, Therese C. (Zboinski) Rivard, whom he married April 13, 1973; their children: Nicole (Mike) McGovern, Marguerite (Guy) Benson, Elizabeth (Michael) Cimasi, Karalyn (Adam) Williams, Mark B. Rivard and Katherine Rivard; and grandchildren: Adam, Katelyn, Gabriel, Alexandra, Adam Jr., Juliana, Isabelle, Grace, Victoria, Anthony, Charles and Harold. A brother, Scott (Jill) Rivard; sisters: Anne (Mattias) Strommer and Judith Rivard; and stepbrothers: Gregory Dick and Kent (Karen) Willis. Preceded in death in addition to his parents is his sister, Virginia Caldwell.
Christian burial services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
