Maria I Gonzalez

It is with great sadness that the family of Maria I. Gonzalez announces her passing, after a brief illness, on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the Buffalo General Hospital, surrounded by her family and longtime partner, Aureliano Rios (Andy).

Maria, who was 64 years old at the time of passing, was born on June 11, 1953 in Ponce, P.R. and was the daughter of late Francisca Gonzalez (Panchita) and late Adelino Gonzalez.

She leaves behind her sisters Ana Ayala and Raquel Castro, her brothers Jose Sanchez, Adelino Gonzalez, Jr. and Ramon Gonzalez and preceded in death by brothers Tito Rivera and Gualberto (Speedy) Gonzalez.Maria was a great woman and an amazing mother who also left behind daughters Yolanda Morales, Sandra HernandezWilliams, Silvia Burgos, Ana Ortiz and Ivette Ortiz, and her only son, Gilberto Ortiz. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Shacoya Donaldson, Darnell Hernandez, David Morrison Jr., Calvin Stallworth Jr., Shanice Morrison, Gilberto Ortiz Jr., Alexander Bengan, Dante Ortiz, Christian Ortiz, Shaness Burgos, Juan Resto, Saniya Williams, Emain Tirado, Isabella Ortiz, Kaiden Reyes and Kayanna Jordan. She is fondly remembered by great- grandchildren Jasmine Cabassa, Jayanna Cabassa, Peyton and Calvin Stallworth III, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services in memory of Maria Gonzalez will be held at Getsemani Church, 115 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY, today at 6 p.m. and on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest following the Friday service at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Route 60 at Williams Street, Dunkirk, NY.
