Margaret M. Griffin of Dunkirk, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 26, 2022, following a courageous battle with Calciphylaxis.
Born in Niagara Falls, the daughter of the late Chester and Genevieve (Majka) Sysol.
Margaret was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1977.
Margaret loved to travel, she enjoyed cooking especially traditional polish food. She liked to sew and came up with great costumes for her sons at Halloween, and she loved decorating for all the holidays. Margaret loved to read and enjoyed going to her ladies book club.
Margaret’s work career was with the New York State Department of Mental Health, where she worked for the Gowanda Psychiatric Center until it closed. She then worked at the West Seneca Development Center, until finally returning to Fredonia DDSO team to finish out her 35 year career.
Margaret would like to thank her friend, Tammy Holstrom for the giving her the gift of a kidney donation, so that she could spend another 11 years with her family.
Surviving is her husband, Jeffrey Griffin; sons: Jeffrey (Lindsey) Griffin of Fredonia, and Eric Griffin of Dunkirk; her beloved grandchildren: Easton and Harper Griffin; along with several cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m., at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 E Doughty St, where funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Pollock to officiate. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery
