Jeffrey J Thauer

Jeffrey J. Thauer, 52, of Dunkirk, died Thursday morning, March 17, 2016, at UPMC Hamot in Erie following a courageous battle with cancer.


Born March 17, 1964, in Cheektowaga, son of Maureen (Quinlan) Thauer and the late David Thauer, who died in 2001.

Jeff was a graduate of West Seneca East High School.

An employee of the City of Dunkirk as a maintenance mechanic at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.

An avid outdoorsman, Jeff loved to hunt, fish, ride his ATV's and ride roller coasters. His memberships include NC Conservation Club,

Fredonia Beaver Club, First Ward Falcons Club, and Bowinckel Hunting Club in PA.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted wife and soul mate of over 23 years, Ginger (Kennedy) Thauer, whom he had met in 1993 and married June 3, 2000; their daughter, Christine Thauer of Dunkirk; a brother, James (Lynne) Thauer of Ocala, FL; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends survive.

Preceded in death in addition to his father is his brother Michael Thauer, who died in 2009.

A celebration of life will be celebrated at a later date to be announced.
