James D. Stelmack

James D. StelmackJames D. Stelmack, 74, of Fredonia, died, Friday, May 17, 2019, at Brooks Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 5, 1944, in Dunkirk, son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Gostomski) Stelmack.

A veteran of the US Army from 1962-65. Jim retired from National Fuel Gas in Dunkirk and following his retirement drove truck for Rick Walker Fruit Farms in Sheridan. An avid outdoor sportsman, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking his catch, and living life to the fullest.
His memberships include Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig, Dom Polski Club, Sheridan VFW, Dunkirk Falcons Club, Moniuszko Club, Moose Club as a past officer and most recently, past President of The Kosciuszko Club.

Surviving are sons James C. (Elizabeth) Stelmack of Fredonia, Joshua R. (Tenneil) Stelmack of Frewsburg; sister Judy (Ray) Szymczak of Sheridan; brother Jack (Kathleen) Stelmack of Florida; grandchildren Lauren, Meredith Stelmack, Kole, Braelyn and Presleigh Stelmack; nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death, in addition to his parents, are his wife Patricia J. (Brisky) Stelmack, who died June 24, 2012 and his brother,Joseph Stelmack.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call Monday, May 20th from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty St, in Dunkirk. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kosciuszko Club, 252 Nevins St. Dunkirk NY 14048 to help fund their scholarship program.
