Gertrude S. Kuznicki

Gertrude S. Kuznicki, 95, of Dunkirk, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at the Absolut at Westfield, following a brief illness. She was born in Dunkirk, June 17, 1920, daughter of the late Walter and Eva (Kleparek) Szwejbka. A past employee of the former Van Raalte Corporation, and had been worked at the former St. Hyacinth Parish Rectory for Rt. Rev. Msgr. Casimer A. Zak until retirement. Gertrude loved her family and church, was an expert seamstress, enjoyed her garden, to crochet, cook and read. Her memberships include Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hyacinth, the parish Fatima Society and former St. Hyacinth's Mothers Club. Survivors include her children Helen Britt, of Dunkirk, Dr. James (Susan) Kuznicki of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lorraine (Michael) Kulig of Huston, TX, Beth (Bill Sutton) Rolon of Dunkirk, grandchildren James (Kristy) Britt of Dallas, TX, Jason (Scott) Starin of Washington, DC, Matthew Kuznicki of Akron, Ohio, Lee (Lana) Kulig, Kristen (Colby) Burns, Emily (Adam) Bellesheim all of Huston, TX, Peter Galardo of Brocton and Hollin Galardo of Dunkirk, 10 great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death in addition to her parents is her husband Thaddeus Kuznicki, whom she married May 8, 1946 and died September 7, 1981, brothers Andrew, John and Albin Szwejbka. Relatives and friends are welcome to callow Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc. 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery. The Blessed Mary Angela Parish Fatima Society will recite the Rosary on Monday evening at 6:30.
