Gertrude A. Ortlieb, 106, of Dunkirk, died Sunday, September 30, 2018, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born June 17, 1912, in Fredonia, daughter of the late William and Amelia (Spoden) Ortlieb.
A graduate of Fredonia High School and Dunkirk Business Institute. Gertrude started her employment at the Warder Paper Box Factory in March1930, and then the Safe Store in Dunkirk As the bookkeeper and secretaryfor over 30 years, Marine Midland Bank as head bookkeeper and retired in1977, and then worked for AAA and Ralph’s Pennzoil.
Her memberships include St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, also served as a Lector, and Eucharistic Minister, the Ladies Guild where she was also pastpresident, member and past president of the Dunkirk Fredonia Business and Professional Woman’s Club.
Surviving are cousins James and Virginia Lennertz, Robert and Esther Lennertz. Preceded in death in addition to her parents are a brother Frank Ortlieb.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call on Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk. Funeral services will be Thursdaymorning at 10 a.m., in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
