George Richard Damico, 73, of Amherst, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020, surrounded by the love of his daughter and caretaker, Lynn, son, Jimmy, and family friend, John O’Keefe.
George was born on Nov. 18, 1946, and was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Kubera) Damico; son of the late Louis Damico and Francis (Catalano) Damico; loving father of James Damico of Buford, Ga., Lynn Damico of Dunkirk, N.Y., and David Damico. Cherished grandfather of Ashley Quiles, Carissa Leighann, Jonathan Rodriguez and Ellie Damico and great-grandfather of Bella Rose. George was also a beloved friend of the O’Keefe/Mitri and Borrasca families of Tonawanda N.Y.; as well as his church family at Creekside Assembly of God in Amherst, N,Y.
George was a native of Dunkirk, N,Y. Amongst his many accomplishments, George was a veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Once he left the military, George was married to Patricia and worked at Al-Tech Steel, where he worked and retired after 28 years. His hobbies included antique cars, spending time with his grandchildren and traveling the country by car. Mr. Damico entered into the presence of Jesus after a brief illness.
There will be a celebration of George Damico’s life to be held at Creekside Assembly of God, 2625 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst, NY 14228 on Saturday, Aug. 1, starting at 2 p.m. After the celebration there will be a time of food and fellowship at the church. You must wear a face mask until seated and please observe all social distancing.
