Frank "Congi" Sobilo

Frank M. "Congi" Sobilo, 89, of Dunkirk, died Saturday morning, November19, 2016,at home. He was born December 24, 1926, in Dunkirk, son of the late John and Eleanore (Pelka) Sobilo. A veteran of WW II US Army from 1945-46, and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Independence Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal. A retired employee of ECR in Dunkirk and at one time an employee of the former ALCO Plant in Dunkirk. "Congi" was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed to hunt, fish, golf, bowling
and spend time with family. His memberships include Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hyacinth, life member of First Ward Falcon Club, life member Moniuszko Club, life member of WW II Vets Club and one of the few living original founding members, past memberships include Kosciuszko Club, Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, South Shore Rod and Gun Club, Lakeside Club and American Legion Post #62. Surviving is his wife of 68 Years Yolanda A. (Sikorski) Sobilo, whom he marriedJune 12,1948,children Carl (Judith) Sobilo, Roy (Tanya) Sobilo, Gary (Patricia) Sobilo allof Dunkirk, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death in addition to his parents are a sister Mary Zielinski, brothers Walter, Joseph and Edward Sobilo. Relatives and friends are welcome to call Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 8:35in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Entombment will be in the Pieta Mausoleum in St.Mary's Cemetery.
