Eugemia Vega

Eufemia Vega, 99, of Dunkirk passed away Friday morning, February 15, 2019 at Hamot Hospital. She was born September 3, 1919 in Patillas, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Julio Ruiz and Asuncion DeJesus.

Eufemia and her family came to Dunkirk in 1952. She was a member of Sacred Heart Society at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.Eufemia was the beloved matriarch of a five generation family.

She is survived by her children Higinia Lozada, Luis (Carmen) Vega, Francisco Vega Jr., Ramon Vega, Aida Luz Vega, Wilda (Rick) Vega-Singer-Wilcox, Catherine Vega, Tomas Vega, Miguel (Hend) Vega and Reynaldo (Maribel) Vega. She is further survived by one sister, Rafaela Ruiz and one brother, Saturno Ruiz. Proud Grandmother of 43 grandchildren, 96 great grandchildren, and 38 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her husband, Francisco Vega and her daughters, Maria Nieves and Juanita Vega.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street, Dunkirk. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 AM in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
