Elaine H. Kaus, 84, of Dunkirk, died Tuesday morning, May 31, 2016 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.She was born August 8, 1931, in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Lokietek) Pokrzywka.
A homemaker, Elaine was a cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who also loved to garden and was an avid Derek Jeter and NY Yankees fan. Her memberships include Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hyacinth, the parish Alter and Rosary Society, Bishops Committee, Mothers Club, Breakfast Club and the Thursday evening Brooks Hospital Prayer Group.
Surviving are her children, Kathy (Patrick) Callahan of Rochester; Barbara Kaus of Milwaukee, WIS.; Joe (Alecia) Kaus, Stan (Denise) Kaus, both of Batavia, Virginia; "Ginny" (Jim) Larson of Dunkirk; Tom (Lisa) Kaus of Gallup, NM; Christine (David) Damon of San Antonio, TX; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Arthur (Terri) Parks of Kenmore, NY, William (Judy) Parks of PA,;and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death in addition to her parents are her husband, Bronislaus Kaus, who died November 29, 2000; brother Joseph Pokrzywka and infant sister Irene.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery.
