Edward S. Pasierb

August 4, 1922 — February 1, 2016

Edward S. Pasierb, 93, of Dunkirk, formerly of Fredonia, went to be with our Lord, February 1, 2016 at Brooks Memorial Hospital. He was born in Erie, Pa., August 4, 1922, son of the late Michael and Angeline (Maziarz) Pasierb. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Gaum during WWII, as Quarter Master, and received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon and WWII Victory Medal. Edward retired from the New York State Thruway in Irving after 22 years as a mechanic. He also ran his own cattle farm for 12 years and grape farm for 50 years. A parishioner of St. Joseph R. C. Church in Fredonia and former member of St. Hedwig's R. C. Church in Dunkirk, life member of the American Legion, Kosciuszko Polish Home, past treasurer of the Sheridan Happy Seniors for 17 years. Edward enjoyed spending time out doors on his farm, and playing with his grandson and nieces and nephews. He enjoyed traveling to many different places with his wife, and was also an avid bowler and golfer. Survivors include his daughter Jane Russo of Fredonia, grandson Anthony F. Russo Jr. of Naples, Florida, sister-in-law Virginia Pasierb, brother-in-law Raymond (Dolores) Abramowicz, both of Dunkirk, along with nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death in addition to his parents are his wife, Elizabeth (Abramowicz) Pasierb, who died May 17, 2006, son-in-law Anthony F. Russo Sr., and brother Matthew Pasierb. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Joseph R. C. Church. Interment will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to NCCF attn; R O Foundation Endowment, 212 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk, NY 14048
