Dorothy M. Pleszewski

Dorothy M. Pleszewski, 80, of Dunkirk, died Saturday morning, January 9, 2016, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center. Born November 5, 1935 in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Fredrick and Irene (Besse) Wachter. A past employee of the former Van Raalte Corporation in Dunkirk, Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed babysitting children of relatives and friends. She also spent her time playing word-search puzzles, solitaire and watching game shows on TV. Surviving are her children Tina (Paul) Butryn of Silver Creek, David (Pam) Pleszewski of Fredonia, grandchildren Patrick Brandt of Dunkirk, Scott (Alexis) Brandt of Fredonia, Donald (Brenna) Brandt of Buffalo, Jonathan Pleszewski of Orlando, FL, EmilyAnn Pleszewski of Fredonia, step grand-daughters Michelle Newell, Sara Butryn, great-grandchildren Noah, Ava, Addison and Aiden Brandt, sister Mary Mirwald of Rochester, brother Richard Besse of Cherry Creek, best friend and sister-in-law Patricia Piazza and sister-in-law Carla Pleszewski. Nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death in addition to her parents is her husband of 59 years Ralph J. Pleszewski, whom she married July 3, 1954 and died August 15, 2013, and brothers Charles and Albert Wachter. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
