Betty Jo Davis-Newman

Betty Jo Davis-Newman, of Dunkirk, N.Y., passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on Nov. 30, at age 73 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born on May 8, 1947, in Gowanda, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Joyce (Chinchen) Naglich, of Silver Creek, N.Y.

She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1965. Prior to retiring, Betty worked in real estate and held the position of office manager for Dr. Irene Strychalski, D.D.S., orthodontists in Dunkirk, N.Y., for 34 years.

Betty enjoyed gardening, traveling, and reading in her free time. Most of all, she treasured time spent with family, especially her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her husband, Craig Newman of Dunkirk, N.Y., whom she married on July 7, 2007. Loving mother to three daughters: Jodi Ohl of Aberdeen, N.C., Becky Ohl of Dunkirk, N.Y., and Sherry Ohl of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and a stepson, Jeremy Newman of Boston, N.Y. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Bianca Campese, Elizabeth Grupa and Noah Campese of Dunkirk, N.Y., Dean Campese of Gowanda, N.Y., Gaberial and Matthew Campese of Port Charlotte, Fla., Zachary Mayberry of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Joshua Beckett of Aberdeen, N.C., and Luna Newman of Boston, N.Y.; and four great-grandchildren, Vanna Campese and Tegan Grupa of Dunkirk, N.Y., Elena and Eva Mayberry of Myrtle Beach, and siblings: Marsha Jacobs of Silver Creek, N.Y., and Patty Azzarella of Sheridan, N.Y.In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her grandparents, Joseph A. Naglich Sr. and Jennie Naglich; Richard Chinchen and Mary (Dupont) Chinchen.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 3-5 p.m., at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 E Doughty St.. Prayer services will be following at 5 p.m..
