Ardeene (Jankowski) Lisa, 96, passed away Monday, March 23rd, 2020, at the Chautauqua County Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunkirk.
She was born in Dunkirk on Nov. 18, 1923, the daughter of the late Peter and Frances Jankowski.
Ardeene was a lifelong member of St. Hedwigs Church, a NY Yankee fan, and enjoyed a competitive game of pinochle. However, she loved nothing more than visiting with her family, feeding them the minute they came in the door, whether it was a full meal of her famous sauce or peppermint patties and Fudgesicle.
Ardeene worked at Van Raalte Co. in her younger years, but her heart and soul went into raising her loving family, 4 wonderful sons, James(Joan), Frank Jr. (Donna), William (Lori), and Don (Brenda) and her “favorite” (and only) daughter, Jodi (Dennis) Beutel, all of whom are eternally grateful to call her “Mom”.
Also known as Grandma Deenie and Grandma Ardeene, she is also survived and adored by 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Ardeene was predeceased and now reunited with her husband of 73 years Frank Lisa Sr., who passed away Sept. 6, 2019, as well as her siblings Mildred Wojnarowski, Alice Korzeniewski, and Arthur Jankowski.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no services held at this time. However, the family is planning a Celebration of Life this summer, complete with the love, laughter, and tears we know she would want us to enjoy, as well as some of her favorite polkas and of course, her secret to her long life, some wine.
